QT Energy Shot (Part 2) (QuikTrip)

After taking one of these energy shots @ 9:30 AM I began to feel tired again at about 1:00 PM. Now I do have to state that I was up last night up until 1:30 AM and up at around 7:00 AM so that' s not very much rest which can make the results not as great as someone with at least 6-8 hours of sleep. Now it did give me energy but not in the same fashion as 5hr Energy does the job. I do not think this is a 5hr replacement but a cheap alternative if you just don't want to pay for the real deal. It still isn't quite there yet, and even though I don't like the 5hr taste this thing tastes about 3x worse. It tastes like Grape (the after taste) but as far as the initial taste, I felt like it tastes like what I would think dirty mop water tastes like. How's that for a visual?

Overall was it worth the $4? I don't know yet. I did just take another here @ 1:30 PM and going to see how that turns out but as of this point I don't think I would buy them again, I will stick to my Monsters. As far as the best consistent price on 5hr I usually pay $2.68 ea for them @ Wal-Mart which is as close to 2/$5 I can find.

If you have tried this product before, what are your thoughts?

Thanks.

QT Energy Shot (Part 1) (QuikTrip)

So I will start off by saying that I drink Energy Drinks on the regular, specifically Monster Zero due to the lack of calories and sugar. The Monster drinks really don't give me the same buzz as it use to and I mainly drink them now because I like the way they taste but since my body has already gotten use to the caffeine intake, it is only enough to keep me awake. I really do like the effects of 5hr Energy but lets face it, those things are a bit too expensive unless your lucky enough to find them for about 2 for $4 or 2 for $5 and it would have to be the "Extra" version in the black bottle. 5hr Energy to me tastes like straight up crap but I am willing to drink it because it does what it's suppose to do, but the name is a bit misleading because it will give you energy but it could be 1 or more than 5 hours.

That brings me to the next thing, which is, I have noticed QT (QuikTrip) has their own version of 5hr Energy for the great price of 2 for $4 so I have been tempted to give them a shot. I have tried other knock off products before and they never really worked very well at all. I can notice the effects of 5hr Energy within about 10-20 minutes of drinking it. I do have to say that although I do not enjoy the way they taste and it takes me a few sips to finish a bottle in which I have to wash down with a Monster or another drink to get the taste out of my mouth, a few people who I know have said it tastes really good to them. Wats up with that? Then again most of these people eat food that I wouldn't even touch.

Well today I went ahead and purchased 2 of the Grape variety and in the black bottle to see how they stack up to 5hr Energy. I took the drink @ 9:30 AM and I can say I do feel some sort of effect now but I can't be too certain. I will come back with part 2 and give my thoughts on this QT Energy Shot around about 3 PM CST which should be plenty of time to test it.

BTW this is what the bottle looks like:

Ingredients Comparison:

QT Energy Shot 2oz

Niacin 30mg
Vitamin B6 40mg
Folic Acid 400mcg
Vitamin B12 500mcg
Sodium 10mg

Engery Blend 1887mg
Taurine, Glucuronolactone, L-Phenylalanine, N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine, Caffeine, Malic Acid, Papain and Bromelain

5hr Energy 1.93oz

Niacin 40mg
Vitamin B6 40mg
Folic Acid 400mcg
Vitamin B12 500mcg
Sodium 18mg

Engery Blend 1870mg
Taurine, Glucuronic acid (as or from glucuronolactone), Malic Acid, N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine,  L-Phenylalanine, Caffeine, Citicoline

The ingredients are very similar but the order in which the Energy Blend ingredients appear should tell you that one version had more of one thing than another if they are going by the general rule of thumb when listing ingredients. I would also like to note that 5hr Energy Extra Strength has 2000mg of Energy Blend due to the higher dosage of caffeine present, which is the version I like.

That does it for part 1.

Thanks.
